Childhood obesity is a mjor problem not only to North Carolina but in other states as well often caused by sedentary lifestyle. In order to combat the problem, Ashe County Middle School is trying out a solution called "HOPSports" where it promotes healthy and active lifestyles for the youth by implementing various physical activities that will encourage movement, providing nutrition and diet education and at the same time entertaining.

Most of the activities includes childsplay stuffs like jump rope techniques, dancing, mat tumbling and balancing exercises which was not available in formal education systems in the past. More on the link below.
