Top enterprises follow the latest trend to maximize computer infrastructure resources by virtualization. Many enterprise data centers use only 10-15% of their capacity but pull 100% energy. Margaret Lewis from AMD (Advanced Micro Devices)voices the benefits and challenges of virtualizing software on multicore machines and servers. Developing multithreaded software and solid hypervisors as well as the need to purchase new robust hardware are some themes discussed.
By the end of 2010, says Lewis, 50% of all enterprises may have their data centers virtualized.
